Tri-Community ambulance service has upgraded several aspects of its facilities and services with the help of a FEMA grant totaling $53,000.
The federal grant is awarded to fire and EMS services across the country. Tri-Community’s grant was used for three projects. A 50-kilowatt emergency generator system was installed at the station to allow for uninterrupted service during any power outage. (New York, NY – April 26, 2007) The 2007 Environmental Quality Award for Industry in New York was presented today to Christopher Collins, Chairman & CEO of Audubon Machinery Corporation, located in North Tonawanda. Audubon Machinery was recognized for its efforts in building the first Green Certified Factory in New York State. The 40,000 square foot factory was built in accordance with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) standards as set forth in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) criteria. Audubon built its new manufacturing facility on a remediated Brownfield site and implemented measures in accordance with the LEED ® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines in order to obtain its Green Building status from the US Green Building Council.
